The BeABlake Foundation was founded in honor of Blake Rhone-Subinsky. Blake was a 32-year-old son, brother, husband, daddy and friend whose life was tragically taken on August 31, 2021, by a drug impaired driver. His entire life was still ahead of him.
Blake was born in Houston, Texas, and grew up in Angleton, Texas, which is just south of Houston. He graduated from high school in 2007 and then he attended Sam Houston State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 2012. He played baseball at the collegiate level and was an active member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity, where he served in many capacities including President.
Blake was employed by HD Supply as a Regional Account Manager and loved what he did for a living. He had many friends and colleagues in the multi-family industry that mourn his loss as well.
He loved all sports and played baseball, basketball, soccer, football, golf and softball. He loved watching sports and was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Longhorns, the Houston Astros and his Sam Houston State Bearkats.
More than anything he loved his family and friends. He was an amazing husband to the love of his life and an even better father to his little girl. He was the best son that his parents could ask for, and the protective big brother to his two sisters whom he adored. Approximately two weeks before his passing, he was having a conversation with a family friend who was a coach, father of two of his best friends and someone who had known him his whole life. They discussed life in general and Blake told him about his family life, they talked sports, about his leadership at work, their small group at church and about his being a daddy to his daughter. At the end of the conversation, the family friend said “man, if everyone lived their life the way you do, this world would be a better place.” From this conversation, the BeABlake hashtag and movement was formed. What does BeABlake mean? It means to be a leader inside your home and outside in your community. It means to be kind and treat others above yourself. Make a difference in the world by using your God given talents. Be the best spouse and parent you can be.
Love with your whole heart and let those that are close to you know that at all times.
Love your God above all else.
Blake’s life was taken by the selfish act of one person who made the choice to take drugs and was high, crossed the middle line and hit him head on and killing him instantly. The offender perished also in this accident. Two young lives lost due to one of them making an awful choice. We have to work to end impaired driving in all forms. Drunk and drugged driving is the number one cause of death on our roadways. This is the reason that the BeABlake Foundation was formed. We will never stop fighting as we honor Blake’s legacy and all of the lives that he touched in his short 32 years here on earth.
With your help, we can bring an end to impaired driving while caring for the victims of this 100% preventable crime.
